What is the difference between the Carbon Air and the Carbon Air2?

The carbon Air2 has integrated horizontal carbon lines to provide extra compression. The Arena Waterinstinct website states that this mainly concerns the critical points, but the lines are over the whole pity and over the entire suit. You can deduce from this that the fabric that contains the carbon contains the same amount of compression everywhere. However, at the points where a double layer of fabric is, more compression is offered. The pity concerns the area around the hips and the suit at the hips, abdomen and around the chest. By providing extra compression only at these points, the rest of the suit feels lighter and gives more freedom of movement. The fabric of a Carbon air is therefore considerably thinner than that of a Carbon Flex, Ultra or Duo.

What’s new?

A new “One piece construction” has been introduced with the Carbon Air2  We have also seen this construction with the R-EVO. This suit also consists of one piece of fabric which minimizes the number of seams. In addition, Arena says that because of this construction, the suit feels more like a second skin when you put it on.
What is also new is the lining of the suits (not the jammers). Where the lining was first seen as a kind of hourglass over the belly, you now see that it is three separate panels. It is a bit like the design of a Speedo LZR suit. These three separate panels give more freedom to move and less pressure on the hips and therefore more flexibility at the hips. The lining of the bottom of both the pity and the suit is slightly more upwards and the cut is slightly narrower. You notice this, because the lining around the buttocks stops a bit earlier and when you put it on you notice that it is slightly narrower.

Finally

The Arena Carbon Air2 has a few differences from the previous model. The old models are no longer available, unless a store / webshop still has them in stock. Some adjustments have been made to optimize the Air, but is it a completely different suit? No, that’s not it. It is good to see that models are improved and that there is always looking at where there is still profit to be made.
